Right now the main focus is summer steelhead. Starting next month we will be seeing sea run cutthroat showing up, and building in numbers till a peak in september/october. I really believe that there is a large segment of the steelhead run that is still waiting to come up river. When they come, the Cowlitz will live up to its reputation as Washington's premier summer steelhead river.
Trout fishing has been pretty damn epic this summer. Some of our local watersheds have been holding some good size fish. When it comes to trout, and summer, later is better. Hitting the water in the afternoon and working the water till dusk, will bring you your best fish to hour ratio. If you want to fish for trout in the South Puget Sound area, give me a call. I offer a afternoon special for trout. $200 from 2pm ish to dusk gets soft drinks, snacks, and guided fly fishing.
